AC Ventures (ACV), a leading early-stage Indonesia-focused Venture Capital firm, has appointed Alan Hellawell as Senior Advisor and Venture Partner. Alan will bring to bear deep technology industry experience to support ACV’s portfolio companies in areas such as value creation, advisory, and strategic introductions; as well as apply his expertise in sector research to further reinforce the firm’s thematic investment approach.

Alan is a technology finance professional with more than 20 years of experience with Asian startups. He has worked with many of the region’s leading tech companies, helping them from the early startup stage through IPO and beyond. He is also the Founder and host of the region’s leading technology podcast, Indo Tekno, which has over 85 episodes featuring successful Indonesian entrepreneurs.

AC Ventures and Alan have had a long working relationship. Alan’s familiarity with Adrian Li began when he led a successful LP investment into the fund in 2018. Alan also worked extensively with Pandu Sjahrir (Founding Partner, AC Ventures) as a fellow member of the leadership of Sea Limited when Alan was the company’s Chief Strategy Officer. Adrian, Pandu, and Helen Wong have all been featured on Indo Tekno discussing Indonesia’s technology ecosystem.

“I have known the partners for more than 15 years. I have worked with every one of the GPs across a number of activities, and I am convinced that AC Ventures is Indonesia’s most visionary and globally-minded venture capital firm,” said Alan Hellawell, Senior Advisor and Venture Partner, AC Ventures.

“AC Ventures continues to invest into adding more value to our portfolio through building our resources and partnering with passionate and talented people. Alan’s vast experience and valuable relationships will greatly help our founders as they scale their businesses,” said Adrian Li, Founder & Managing Partner, AC Ventures.

AC Ventures closed their oversubscribed Fund III in late 2021 and are early investors through the fund in several noteworthy companies including; Shipper, Stockbit, Ula, Aruna, and Astro. The firm works closely with entrepreneurs and complements them with research-driven knowledge, action-orientated portfolio support, a capital value creation team, business development, network, and resources.
