Background

As an angel investor, Pandu is one of Asia’s most successful tech stakeholders. His track record includes early backing of now iconic companies such as Gojek, Sea Limited, and Bukalapak. He has helped raise more than US$1 billion for over 100 companies in the last seven years. These companies have gone on to generate more than US$60 billion in shareholder value, create 100,000 new jobs, and usher in more than 200 new entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia.

In 2021, Pandu was also appointed Chairman of the Indonesia Fintech Association, an umbrella organization for all players in the financial sector that leverage technology to empower their businesses. He is also listed as Commissioner of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). In these ways and more, Pandu provides immense value to AC Ventures’ portfolio beyond capital.

In the energy transition space, Pandu serves as Vice President Director at Indonesia’s premier integrated energy company PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk (TOBA). In 2022, he also became a Director of Electrum, a joint venture between TOBA and Gojek. With Pandu as CEO, Electrum is on a bold mission to build and serve Indonesia’s electric vehicle ecosystem.

Pandu also currently serves as Vice Chairman at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Managing Partner at private credit and growth equity firm Indies Capital. His educational background includes a BA in economics from the University of Chicago in 2001, an MBA from Stanford University in 2007, and an Executive MBA from Tsinghua University’s “One Belt One Road” Program in 2020.

On The Lookout For

My focus revolves around two essential elements: continuous challenges and learning, coupled with a tangible impact on the society we live in. I believe that these things when woven together meaningfully, create an exciting future – one we can all be a little more optimistic about.

Continuous challenges are the stepping stones that propel us to grow, stretch our capabilities, and perpetually evolve. They keep our minds sharp, our spirits high, and our willpower relentless. As a complement to these challenges, the process of learning unfolds. It’s through this journey of exploration and discovery that our knowledge expands, our horizons broaden, and we find new ways of thinking, problem-solving, and innovating.

Through the discipline of investing in the world’s most exciting technology companies, I seek opportunities that allow me to contribute to this work, use innovation as a tool for betterment, and influence meaningful, positive change. Whether it’s by fostering economic growth, improving quality of life, or advancing technology for the common good, my goal is to leave an indelible imprint on society. This balance of personal evolution and societal impact is the compass guiding my path.
