Melina Anlin serves as ACV’s VP of Investment. Her career kicked off at Bain & Company’s Private Equity Group in Singapore, focusing on commercial due diligence, fund and sector strategy for institutional investors. She gained public sector insights during an externship with former Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok).
While at Bain, Melina specialized in consumer internet, consumer products, and retail, with her last role as Senior Manager. Driven by a desire for more autonomy in her career, an inclination toward the buy side, and a fascination with tech and early-stage startups in Southeast Asia, Melina joined ACV in 2023.
She is academically distinguished, holding dual degrees in Business Administration and Southeast Asian Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. Furthering her education, Melina earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 2020. Her time at Harvard also included an internship at Sequoia Capital.
As an investor, my pursuit is to uncover transformative ideas in promising sectors. I am particularly keen on the consumer space, which includes Direct-to-Consumer, healthtech, edtech, wellness, and a variety of other verticals. Additionally, the electric vehicle ecosystem and the burgeoning generative AI space are of specific interest to me, owing to their potential to reshape the world.
Interacting with exceptional founders who challenge norms and influence change in these sectors is a priority. My role also involves working with junior investment team members, nurturing their development into astute investors, and shaping the next generation of leaders in venture capital.
The objective is to identify potential, whether in groundbreaking business concepts, burgeoning markets, or emerging talents within our team. The focus is on fostering growth, both within our organization and in the startups we partner with, aiming to create value, drive progress, and chart the future of investment in our region.
